Hello all,

I'm working on a project involving a next generation remote weapons system that uses a fully automated M2 BMG. The general idea is that we want to be able to charge and fire the weapon remotely. Per our contract, we are to use an off the shelf firing solenoid to remotely trip the sear.

The solenoid is NSN: 5945-25-160-0312 PN: 108703-01   Cage Code: 4RA14

We need the electrical specifications and a wiring diagram to make this thing work. Does anyone have this information?

So far I've scoured the web, tried contacting Vingtech Corporation, Rheinmetall Defence, and Picatinny Arsenal with no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Weaponeer.  Got any Legos?

Bet it'll be 24V DC.

I found this. It's a tech manual for a M578 tracked recovery vehicle. The M2 is among the armaments, but it says it runs both 12 and 24 volts.
I'm willing to put money on 24vdc.

High voltage, low current.

Thanks for the welcome backbencher. Not sure what you mean by Legos.

I appreciate everyone's responses. Again I am looking for the specs specifically of PN: 108703-01. I am sure it runs off 24VDC but that is not enough information to communicate with a device. You would think an electric solenoid would have two wires, a power and a ground, maybe three to help carry the current.

However the solenoid we have has 10 pins.

Caliber .50 Machine Gun, Browning, M2 Heavy Barrel, Fixed Type (Navy)
Solenoid Assembly (12) operates on a 24-28 V dc power source to fire the
gun (fixed type only)

They don't offer a wiring schematic, but it appears the solenoid keeps track of the position of the bolt. I assume that is so it doesn't fire out of battery.

Throw enough steel rods in and  Kragle on em they'll hold up better than my shoulder will to 3" 12 ga 00 buck.

Good luck w/ the solenoid.  If there's 10 pins in a 2 wire military connection, it's to confuse the enemy and contractors.  The correct pins will change on each modification or variant, necessitating an adapter module built in a different Congressional district.

As it's a fire control relay, it's most likely under ITAR rules, so unless you have the proper licenses under ITAR, the companies are not going to respond to you.
