Hello I am new here but just doing the introduction thing. I have a pretty ken interest in building firearms and doing them from scratch for the most control over a project I decide to do.
I have done a little tinkering but have yet to finish a gun other than a single shot derringer. Very crude little gun but works right. Since then my interest has fell into semi-auto firearms.
To get started I assembled an AR-15 for myself and seeing that it worked correctly I decided the derringer was in order. After that I vowed I would own a 1911 so I built one from an 80% kit. So obviously my next step was a scratch build so that is where I am at now. I just posted my start to the Ruger Standard and is waiting for approval but I am coming along nicely.
I am by no means a perfect machinist so sometimes I have to remake parts several times until they are correct. Hopefully those who read my long winded posts will appreciate the detail as much as I appreciate you guys taking the time to read them.
this forum has already helped me tremendously with the information that is already here so I figured why not be a part of a community that is geared towards what I like to do.
Oh and I live in NY which obviously fueled the idea of gun building as I believe there is no regulation that can be applied to knowledge. So far I am right and the state is 100% wrong so there is that
I have so many projects I would like to undertake so I am hoping to do them one at a time and have others be able to see the documented way it was accomplished. I hope to someday design and build a firearm that is completely original but for now I had better build from known working designs until I feel confident enough to undertake such a challenge.
Again thanks for all the info everyone has collectively contributed to.

Welcome to Weaponeer. Got any Legos?
What hoops did you have to jump through to make your AR New Yawk compliant?
