I used to make kits to convert No. 4/5 Enfields to 7.62x39.
It was called the "K" conversion as it was essentially 303B Kurtz.
Ceased making them several years ago but still get inquiries for them.
The steel WASR single-stack magazines used have become somewhat hard to find but do turn up.
Not sure if the newer plastic mags would work.

Doing clean-up and getting out of most Enfield work, willing to release the "K" design to the public domain if there is interest?

The mag adapter is pretty simple to make.
I've done them in one piece aluminum using a CNC mill and two pieces of plastic with a couple of cutters on a small horizontal mill.
Could be done with a 3D printer.

That would be greatly appreciated.  I expect there is still enormous interest in Australia & New Zealand for that conversion.

Unfortunately, the hamster that powered our server's uploads has retired, but you could post things on Google Docs or one of the CAD sites and share the link here.

I'm always curious how things work.

Edit:
I did a search on gunbroker.com for Enfield #4's and they're coming up between 350 and 600 USD.

I did some research, I love conversions, I see it's a big to do in NZ, but for that cost why wouldn't you purchase a Remington 700 in the desired caliber?
They run 4-700 USD but the higher end price comes with an optic.

biker, you shouldn't show me things like that.  I just spent $100 on $5 AR lowers.  Fortunately I have given almost all of them away.

I might buy a 10 pack at 15 each.

Bolt carriers are 18/e... I mean, if I have to change the bolt head and barrel anyway...

C'mon, Christmas bonus!

The bolt head doesn't even need to be affixed to the bolt, if I understand correctly. As long as it rides in the channel the headspace is changed by threading the barrel in or out?

Edit: I mean to say affixed by nothing more than threading in or out.

Enfield headspace is set with various bolt heads. 0,1,2,3,4 if I remember. You could set the barrel back to meet it on a project.

BB, I pinched my pennies for a Vickers kit. Should get it sometime in the new year.

Think only the No 4 rifle had various length boltheads?  Or did the No 1 Mk 3 have different length bolt heads as well?

Looked for my old electronic files with no luck.
Saw the paper drawings recently,
Once found I will scan them and at least temporarily host them on my site.

Bolt head gets modified but not replaced.
Makes a great conversion for anyone wanting to reduce recoil and ammo cost.
Built several rather special guns, SBR's, integrally suppressed, "Tanker" versions, etc.

I started Googling you and found your .45 ACP conversions and Novem rifle. Pretty nifty stuff.

Still doing kits but no more retail builds, just do not have the time.
"K" is from long ago so I may as well offer it to the public domain.

You know how it is, what you are not looking for is constantly in front of you.
When you DO want it, it goes into hiding.
When it it turns up again I will post it.

Head-space is easy as it uses the Savage® type lock-nut.

Barrel thread extends forward of the action.
A simple lock-nut sets head-space.
So chambers can be cut in advance then adjusted with the nut.
