Been reading on this forum for many years and finally decided to join. Threw in a few bucks while I was at it.

I'm mostly into bolt action rifles and have several ideas I'd like to bring to fruition.
So, I'm looking for some like minded folks who would be interested in some collaborations.

Making anything is not an issue since I sit in the middle of several cnc machines that I program for most of the day.

Anyways, glad to finally be a member and hope this place doesn't go away.

Welcome Chris....

one bolt action project I have always wanted to try is to find a cheap Rem 700 action, and take a 1919 barrel and modify it to fit the action.  i have seen one before, that was used for competitive shooting, with great success.   I think the 1919 barrels are 1.5 inches in dia.

now if I had a CNC, I would make the receiver with a built in rail, and straight line stock, so maybe just use an AR buffer tube and have the bolt ride back into the buffer tube. or an all new setup like that but better.

so many ideas, so little money and equipment  lol

Welcome to Weaponeer.

The 1919 barrel is underrated as a project barrel. U.S. made chambered, threaded, chrome lined (some are) heavy barrel for $80and up. Can't be beat.

Hey and welcome to the group. I'm sure you will find like minded people here.
I wanted to do something similar with an MG-34 barrel once but decided to use it in my 34 instead

Thanks guys.

Not really looking to take existing parts and try to make them work.

I would like to create an action from scratch. Take proven concepts and combine them.

I've been studying bolt actions for close to 2 years now. I've read every book I could get my hands on and spent a lot of time online looking at pictures, diagrams and videos. So I believe I have a pretty good understanding of how things work.
But there are certain areas where I run into a wall or just don't "see" it.

Like I've mentioned, making anything is not a problem. Between my work and the other shops in town, anything is possible.

Really looking for someone to bounce some ideas off and to tell me when something is "stupid"
