Hi

i need tips on my bolt action rifle project for the absolute worst.
What are the best calibers, configs, sights?

the rifle is mostly scratch-built, tailored to fit an airgun frame.

...worst case scenario gun, huh?

You'll probly want an anti-mutant weapon with quick recharge capabilities. The Interplanetary Space-Modulator comes to mind, but Acme hasn't made them for a few years now (since chief weapons-engineer; Tex Avery passed away).

...

Basically what I'm getting at is... what do you consider a "worst case" scenario? Some people arm themselves for urban defense and other people stock-up on firearms/ammo for hunting food. Calibers of bullets, weapons, optics and even attire have varied/specific purposes for varied/specific situations.

Imagine the things you'd have to do to survive in your area and build a rifle/pistol around that.
...or use my method and just keep collecting/building until you have every tool for every situation at your immediate disposal.

Worst Case scenario would be an invasion by a chinese communist force and being forced to fight guerrilla style

... I guess that'd be a factor worth taking into account! How many enemy prisoners should I capture to help me heft my JDJ around the battle-field?

You need to decide what it will be used for and what ammo is easily available and what ammo will be easily scavenged in a situation, what calibres do your local police and military use? It may be worth considering using those calibres or 12G with chamber inserts to allow other calibres to be used easily

Depends how much time you want to spend shooting, versus how much time you want to spend sewing tack and harness for the haul teams....

Well, if you can splurge, then buy yourself an autonomous Mule to follow you while carrying all your guns.

Anyway, police here have Glocks, a few AR's and some mossbergs
The criminals have .38 revolvers, .45 custom built pistols, some AR's and very few .50 M2 machine guns. Both charge high prices for firearms.

Unless there are specific legal prohibitions, in your area I'd consider the main 4:

.308", 7.62x54R, 7.62x39mm, & .223". That will cover the main military calibers you're likely to see, as well as ammo that abu sayyaf is likely to have on hand.

even the abu sayyaf and CPP-NPA are no longer using 7.62x54R anymore, except for very few exceptions

i think .308 would suit my sniper/battle/hunting/self-defence rifle

and now i am more rooting for single-shot, looking for the fastest known action of this type.

The fastest operating 90 degree bolt is the SMLE, but w/o a magazine to feed from, hardly does you any good. I guess I'm slightly confused - if you're going to fabricate a .308" rifle from scratch, why does it need to fit in an airgun frame? If you can build a .308" rifle, you can build your own receiver - you're not going to be able to make a working .308" rifle fit an air rifle receiver. At most you might be able to use the stock, and modify the trigger.

I'm with backbencher on this one... plus, would you really trust some aluminum air-gun frame/trigger-group with that sort of force? Just the recoil on that front mounting lug would crack the frame. Sure it might work once or twice, but you want a survival weapon to survive longer than you... it just wouldn't be dependable.

Why not look into the Zastava PAP M77? It's your .308/54r in a milled AK receiver config. and since it's Yugo, they're fairly inexpensive (~$500, but that could change overnight).
...or you could do like many others here and build one.

China doesn't need to invade the U.S. If China wants to take over the U.S. it can just call in its debt. China already owns the U.S. They need the U.S. to buy all of China's manufactured products.

China might grab the Spratleys, might go to war w/ Taiwan, but I highly doubt they want to follow in Japan's footsteps.

...and then what happens... does every American just burst into flames?!? Will Americans just shackle-up and deliver themselves to China for processing?
If China called in all it's debt, they'd be in the exact same situation they are now and so would we... penniless.

The threat of action has more power than the action it's self and they're milking it.

Somehow, I think several folks in this thread are missing the fact that the OP lives in the Philippines, not the US.

Yes, Really.

I see a few reasons why china would invade us.
mainly the mainland has more resources and we are at a weak point

Now back to the discussion please.
