This is not take a rocket scientist to do so,
Get a carbonized steel wire first coil it in right shape or if it flat leaf spring cut sheetmetall but it must be carbonized steel than heat treat it by heating certain temperature and thatn cool it in machine or mineral oil only..

Donot use any other oil's such as engine or gear oils those wont do nothing rather than stink..

You can etch flat springs as well

ps. I'm designing dead simple(and extremely cheap) flatbed plotter with a "tap buster"(poor man's EDM) as a working piece.
Leinad and AKM flats - here I come

Thanks for sharing that, Sora. So you could make a complete AK flat with all the holes, and all you'd have to do is fold it & pin it?

Good thing you saved that,  Sagittarii !

The original website went dead, be a shame not to save that info!

To this day I have not found any manual anywhere on the internet that describes precisely how to make magazine springs, or how they make them commercially.
(other then Lute method which is not 100% satisfactory in results)

I don't know what you all talking about but magazine Spring from M16 fits fine into MP44 magazine and seems exact type of spring...
Also it more cheaper than regular WW2 springs which made out of cheap steel wire and time to time getting worned out..

That's nice to know, handy tip thanks.

I think this was more about having the knowledge rather than actual practical application.

But, still thanks for the tip on StG44 mag spring

...I ripped this from AGI's gun-spring fabrication video. I thought it was helpful (I added a key for easy understanding).

Chain link fence

Make a spring on a lathe

How to wind a coil spring

Commercial Machine

What it really more amazing that newer springs made from Chrome Silicon wire which is more struder to say or more tough and that minimizes the size of spring..
I took new M16 spring and insert into MP44 magazine, the spring was stretched out a bit, this allows correct installation and part of spring attaches to the follower just like original does..

I asure you the wideness of spring same as original and it functions without problem...
As you see those springs cheap and more available rather original german WW2 springs which much weaker and wearable after 2 or 3 times use..
Chrome Silicon is rust and wear resistant and US Military adopt this new springs and to be replaced with older ones.....

The springs available from Numrich if someone interested..
This allows you to save planty of buck,I personaly get amazed how they works...

If you get serious about making springs, get a Advance Car Mover spring winder, you can find them on eBay at reasonable prices, and they work great!

I've got two of them here, set up for left and right hand winding, these make forming springs a piece of cake, in almost any form!
