These little tealight candle lanterns are far more handy than you would think. They are compact, light weight, and use the cheap and easy to find tealight candles that burn for around 3 hours.

Now tealight candles are easy to find, they sell them by the bag at Wal-Mart, but you can actually get better deals online. Back in 2009 I bought 3 of these lanterns from County Comm, and I bought 500 candles for dirt cheap from another company, I use mine every night and they are great. You can use them outside on the porch, on the patio, camping, or for emergency lighting in the home.

I use mine at night rather than a light bulb. They provide good light, reduce my power bill, if you want to feel green you can, and I can use them outside in the backyard and they look wonderful.

They are manufactured in the U.S. primarily of aluminum, glass and stainless, these lanterns are both rust-proof and while not wind-proof, they are very wind resistant.

• Convenient Handle - Stainless steel handle makes the Mini Lantern easy to hang and carry.
• Stable base - the Mini Lantern's three legged base helps prevent accidental tipping.
• Unique candle holder keeps tealight stable.
• Economical - the Mini Lantern is affordable and economical to use. Other lanterns can cost up to $2.00 per hour to operate, these costs only about 8 cents per hour.
• Easy – It’s a candle.
• Reliable - A specially designed vent in the base of the lantern provides cool air to supply the flame with needed oxygen.
• Environmentally Friendly - no batteries or fuel cartridges to dispose of.
• Made in U.S.A. with top quality materials and workmanship.

I would like to make a comment on the safety. Being a burn survivor, and knowing a lot of burn survivors I know one of the common causes of burn injuries in the home is candles. They sit of coffee tables and the gals love the look and the smell, but they wear a lot of lose fitting clothing, and if you are not paying attention when standing near a candle it’s easy to set your clothing on fire, and that’s not something you want to experience, or anyone in your family to experience. That said, these lanterns are 100% safer than normal candles, and it would be hard to catch lose fitting clothing on fire using one (not impossible). So keep in mind that if you intend to have open flame in or around your home you should not leave it unattended, or around young children. And if you do, well these lanterns are the safest way to do it.

Flashlights are great for bad storms that knock out the power, but they don’t work so well when the batteries are dead.  Candles are a great second option

I like these a lot better than the normal campling candle lantern.

Cost: $10
