I really like the Springfield M6 Scout but can't justify spending collector prices for a firearm that will live in my B.O.B.  I tried a patent search and I'm not finding anything.  If anyone has info it would be greatly appreciated.  I think this would be a great build.

Thanks

The build has been brought up in the past (by me).  Me thought was to have a bulk order of sideplates made, and other hard to get items, and then the build would have been finished as a screw build much like an AK.

It would have been a nice build project in nearly a complete kit, and while the final would not really be an M6, it would have been the same style with the full ability to fold in half like the original M6's

Sadly there was not enough interest.

The breech lock on this looks super simple, and the FCG shouldn't be too terribly difficult, dovetailed hammer face with a striking face with ball detents or even threaded .  My biggest concearn now is the availability of .410 barrel stock, would 4130 tubing handle it?  This build just looks too simple to not attempt even if it kicks my teeth in.

Weaponeer do you know anyone who has one that we could get som dimensions off of?  I have access to a sheet metal break.  I'm pretty sure I could come up with a jig to bend the sheet stock.

Tubing would work, numrich did have some barrels that would work too. I have a complete set of photos and the original manual digitized if you are interested. I bought a couple of 41AE barrels years ago with this in mind. Rechamber and beef up chamber area with the barrel block.

Years ago I bought a set of 22 / 410 barrels from Numrich, "Garcia" I believe.  Built a M6 like for my nephew.  He still has it.  I don't know if they still have barrels but they were only $15 or so.

I saw some cheap 410 barrels in a Sarco ad recently.

I have a early M6,

let me know what dimensions you need.

I'm also interested in building one in 7.62x54r over 12ga

I saw where Weaponeer built one and am amazed. I am interested in actually building them in a factory. you can't touch one for less than $750 and as high as $1200 on Gunbroker. Does anyone know about licensing or blueprints for this?

Henry controls the patent now. If anyone gets drawings, I'd love to build one beefed up to .308 over 12 ga.. Or, .45 long colt over 410 ga.....

Henry makes the AR7 survival rifle, Chiappa makes a version of the M6 survival rifle. Looks like a Little Badger was the basis for the bbl unit anyway. The Chiappa is a lot fancier, with rails and screw in chokes as well as sub-caliber adpater sleeves.  Unfortunately the price is still way up there!

I would think the patents on both rifles expired long ago. Both were 50s/60s designs...

Isn't it a DD to use those 12 gauge caliber sleeves?

Don't think so.  Bought a 12 ga adapter to something or other, probably 9x19mm, for my brother one Christmas.  The bbl is still over 18" if you slip a cleaning rod down it.

37mm under barrel to a 12 gauge makes it a "SBS". That becomes the DD. That's assuming less than 18" barrel though.

I knew it was something.
